He most recently worked with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., in Bentonville, Ark., and has also worked in general and financial management for Westlake Village, Calif.-based Dole Food Co. Inc., as well as Sara Lee, Abbott Laboratories and Deloitte.
Amaya plans to manage the Immokalee, Fla.-based Lipman’s international supply chain, according to a news release.
He is also set to assist with the grower-shipper’s acquisitions and business strategies focusing on the vegetable category, according to the release.
Amaya brings an abundance of industry knowledge and executive expertise to his role, Lipman officials said in the release.
“We are fortunate to have someone of John’s caliber to fulfill this role,” Kent Shoemaker, Lipman’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “His wealth of experience in international supply, along with his understanding of our industry, will assist us in continuing our growth strategy.”
A native of Bogota, Colombia, Amaya grew up in the U.S. and is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he earned an MBA.
