Supervalu names former Kroger execs to perishables positions

John Jefferson is the new vice president of produce merchandising and Tom Sargent is the new vice president of meat merchandising, according to an Aug. 13 news release.

Jefferson previously was a vice president of bakery and deli, with experience in administration and merchandise support and led special projects relevant to deli sales, service and profitability, according to the release.

“Customers are looking for the freshest high quality produce and meat in our stores and providing both is a top priority for us at Supervalu,” said Mark Van Buskirk, executive vice president for merchandising, marketing and retail, in a news release. “Adding both John and Tom to oversee these areas will help us accelerate this effort.”
