Dole Taste of SpainCourtesy Dole Fresh VegetablesDole Fresh Vegetables has launched Taste of Spain, a summer salad promotion featuring an online game, Spanish-themed recipes and house parties.

Through Aug. 13, more than 34 million Dole salad blend and kit packages will include game pieces with codes consumers can use to play the game, according to a news release.

More than 10,000 instant prizes are planned, including coupons for free salads, music downloads, and dishes.

Online participants receive one of five virtual ingredients — tomato, grape, garlic, cheese or a rare olive — for the game board. All five must be collected to win the grand prize, a nine-day trip to Spain for two valued at $40,000.

Game details are online.

Monterey, Calif.-based Dole Fresh Vegetables also plans about 1,000 house parties, salad-based Spanish fiestas for 12, on or near June 29. The application deadline is June 3 at the Taste of Spain house party site. Hosts receive a party pack with Dole salad coupons, Spanish recipes and other items.

Dole’s recipes for the promotion include southern Spanish market salad; Spanish tapas with tuna; Granada seafood salad; and Mediterranean salad with red grapes and Spanish sausage.

Taste of Spain recipes and party tips are available on the Dole Salads Facebook page.

“Our new Spanish dishes are intended to widen consumers’ horizons beyond thinking about salad solely as a side dish,” Shannon Yamada, marketing brand manager for Dole Fresh Vegetables, said in the release. “The rich Spanish tradition of culinary creativity and sharing is a perfect example of what’s possible.”
