Banana bread and walnuts make a natural pair in a new promotion with Concord Foods Inc. and the California Walnut Board.
Concord Foods, the Brockton, Mass.-based maker of Chiquita brand banana bread mix, partnered with the Folsom-based board for a cross promotion pairing walnuts with banana bread through October and December.
The promotion includes recipes available for consumers in the form of retail displays containing recipe cards and at NutsForBananaBread.com. The Board, Concord Foods and Cincinnati-based Chiquita plan to promote the cross-promotion through Facebook, blogs and e-newsletters.
“Our consumers use Facebook and blogs to share and review recipes,” said Samantha McCaul, marketing assistant for Concord foods, in a news release. “Social media is a natural fit for this promotion because it allows consumers to interact and provide feedback.”
Retailers can contact Concord Foods or the board to get displays, intended for the produce department’s banana aisle.
