An Ontario greenhouse produce grower-shipper has launched a campaign to increase awareness of breast cancer.

Clifford Produce starts breast cancer awareness campaign

For every carton of specially marked produce Clifford Produce Sales Inc., Kingsville, Ontario sells, the supplier will match retail donations up to $1 a case.

The campaign is designed to support October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

During October, Clifford is marking its packaging with pink ribbons to alert consumers that what they buy can potentially help breast cancer research, treatment and prevention.

The packaging and supporting retail point of sale materials also include the campaign slogan, “Clifford Produce. Every package makes a difference.”

“Almost all of us have been affected in some way by breast cancer, whether it be personally or through a loved one,” Mike Glass, sales manager, said in a news release. “There are so many exciting advancements being made in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer. We, at Clifford Produce, are glad to be able to support this cause and to work with retailers to make an even greater impact than we, as a single company, could make.”

Clifford expects the campaign to generate $50,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
