California-based Frieda’s Specialty Produce is taking its often unique fresh produce items to YouTube.

Six videos accompany the launch of what the Los Alamitos company calls Frieda’s Specialty Produce 101.

“As specialty produce consultants, we seek to be an expert source of information, and the video series is a great way to educate clients and inspire consumers,” Karen Caplan, president and chief executive officer, said in a news release.

The videos, produced in-house, are by design simple, short and sweet, said Hazel Kelly, public relations specialist.

“The videos are another great tool in our social media efforts,” she said. “We plan to add at least one new video every month.”

Featured in the initial videos are cherimoya, jicama, bitter melon, blood oranges, kiwano melons and cactus pears. Visitors to can subscribe to receive notification each time a new video is posted. Alerts also will be sent to Frieda’s fans on Facebook and Twitter.
