Linda Doherty, president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Food Council, Trenton, has been elected chairwoman of the Food Industry Association Executives.
The election was at the association’s recent convention at St. Pete Beach, Fla., according to a news release.
“Linda is a model of excellence in association leadership and sets a high standard of achievement in resolving tough issues and major legislative victories,” Jim Olsen, association president, said in the release.
The New Jersey Food Council, a business trade association, represents the state’s retailers and the food distribution industry. In the past, Doherty, who has been with the council for 17 years, was executive vice president, vice president and director of communications and public affairs.
Doherty is on the board of directors of the Food Policy Institute at Rutgers University and the executive committee of the New Jersey Society of Environmental and Economic Development.
Food Industry Association Executives is a network of local, state, regional, national and international food associations who represent more than 95% of the grocery and food industry in the U.S., according to the release.
