Stemilt Growers Inc. has stepped up its mobile marketing program with the addition of quick response (QR) codes to in-store displays and point-of-sale materials.
Wenatchee, Wash.-based Stemilt has QR codes on its Pinata apple display bins and point-of-sale materials, according to a company news release.
Consumers who have cell phones equipped to read bar codes can scan the QR codes to get recipes, storage and handling tips and other information about Pinatas.
Stemilt expects to attach QR codes to in-store displays and point-of-sale materials advertising cherries and other summer fruit this year.
Stemilt launched its mobile marketing campaign in 2010 with the creation of mobile websites shoppers could access through texting on their cell phones.
