(April 3, 1:19 p.m.) Los Alamitos, Calif.-based Frieda’s Inc. recently launched a Fresh Garlic Delight line, a light and creamy garlic blend that comes in four flavors: original, chipotle, sun dried tomato and green olive.

Garlic Delight uses U.S.-grown garlic, and other natural ingredients like canola oil, lemon juice and salt, said president Karen Caplan.

“It’s the newest innovation in garlic — no one’s been able to duplicate it,” Caplan said. “It’s so good tasting, and it’s so good for you.”

Garlic Delight retains garlic’s nutritional aspects and flavor, but can be used in a variety of methods — as a spread, dip, marinade, sauce, dressing and more, Caplan said.

“And it’s great for barbecuing. It doesn’t overpower,” she said.

Garlic Delight has a three-month shelf life and is available to retail and foodservice customers across the U.S. year round, in either a 7-ounce, resealable, self-standing container (in a 12-count case) for retailers, or 16-ounce, resealable container, also in a 12-count carton — for foodservice, Caplan said.

Each variety features a different recipe on the package, such as diablo shrimp skewers with the chipotle blend, or spinach-artichoke dip with the original, Caplan said.

The suggested retail price is $4.99, and Garlic Delight can be cross-merchandised with various products, including dressings and vegetables in the produce department, with cold cuts and sandwich items in the deli section and with fresh meats and poultry in the butcher’s section, she said.
