(Aug. 11, 4:50 p.m.) The California Table Grape Commission, Fresno, is highlighting the rainbow of grape varieties by offering consumers a cookbook.

Consumers who purchase 1 pound each of the three fall table grape varietal colors — green, black and red — can receive a free copy of “Green Black Red: Recipes for Cooking and Enjoying California Grapes,” said Jim Howard, vice president.

“The shoppers simply mail their receipts to the commission, and they’ll receive the cookbook by return mail,” Howard said.

The offer continues through Dec. 15, he said.

The just-released 132-page cookbook was a joint effort of the commission staff and Chronicle Books, San Francisco. It includes numerous photographs and 60 recipes that use table grapes, Howard said.

The cookbook also is available at grocery stores and from retail and online booksellers. The retail price is $16.95.
