Pierre Dolbec, Veg Pro’s new vice president of sales and procurement, has spent half his 30 years in the produce industry working for two of Canada’s major retailers, Provigo and Sobeys, where he was involved in sales, procurement and merchandising. He then moved to the grower’s side, primarily with HydroSerre Mirabel and Jardins Cousineau, before joining Veg Pro International in June.
Dolbec is on the board of directors of the Dispute Resolution Corp. and is a past president of the Quebec Produce Marketing Association.
Before joining Veg Pro International as sales director in June, Robert Boudreau worked for Les Serres du St-Laurent Inc. as a director of business development for North America.
He spent the first part of his career in the packed goods industry before joining the produce industry more than 14 years ago. Most of his experience has been working with major national accounts in Canada and the U.S.
Joe Carnevale has worked in the wholesale produce industry since the age of 15, when he began working for the family business. Twenty-six years later, he said he’s happy to be joining Courchesne Larose as a specialty buyer and says he already feels like part of the family.
Chile native Mauricio Rosemary has been involved in the fruit business for nearly 30 years. With an agronomy degree and a master’s degree in international business, he worked at Dole Fresh Fruit Co. and a U.S. bank before moving to Canada in 2007 to bring fruit from South America, Central America and Europe to markets in North America and China.
He recently joined the Bar Imex International Inc./Green Earth Produce Inc. teams, divisions of Courchesne Larose, to enhance their international programs.
Tarek Sharkawi, who joined Courchesne Larose in October as a buyer and sales representative, got his first job in Montreal’s fruit and vegetable industry at the age of 18. He spent 21 years as head buyer for retail chain Les Jardins Valmont. Sharkawi was in charge of everything from buying produce to in-store marketing and weekly promotions. During his career there, Valmont grew from a small corner store to eight fruit and vegetable stores.
