Thomas Rahll Sr., longtime president of Edward G. Rahll & Sons Inc., is remembered by friends, industry colleagues and family as a valued leader.
Rahll, 71, who died Feb. 16, was the second-generation leadership of the business started by his father, Edward G. Rahll Sr., in 1951.
Thomas Rahll remained company president until a couple of years ago and was instrumental in expanding Rahll’s business, said T.J. Rahll, Thomas Rahll’s son and the company’s operations manager. “He was our leader for a couple of decades. He was a very hardworking and generous person.”
“He had a lot to do with building this business and making it what it is,” T.J. Rahll said.
Rahll said the company has long been an active tenant of the Maryland Wholesale Produce Market in Jessup and said the older Rahll played an important role in the market’s construction.
Thomas Rahll is survived by his wife, Mary Alberta (Myers) Rahll; three daughters; a son; five grandchildren; and five sisters and three brothers. Two of his brothers, Edward G. Rahll Jr., vice president, and Joseph Rahll Sr., president, remain involved in the company.
