(Aug. 12) Mann Packing Co. Inc., Salinas, Calif., has promoted two sales staff members.

Greg Kurkjian has been promoted from director of retail sales to vice president of retail sales, and Bixby Ramsey moved from sales associate to sales representative.

Kurkjian, based in Cincinnati since joining the company September 2006, was hired as director of sales for the Eastern region of the U.S., according to a news release.

“From Day One Greg has done an excellent job building our retail business and leading a team of well-qualified regional sales managers dedicated to supporting category growth through promotion and space management,” Mike Jarrard, president and chief executive officer, said in the release.

Ramsey started at the company in 1999, as an assistant refrigeration technician.

“Bixby’s experience from the production and shipping side of our business enables him to service our customers to an exceptional level,” Jay Iverson, director of sales, said in the release. “He knows it’s more than just taking an order. It’s getting top-quality produce loaded and shipped in an accurate and timely manner. He knows first-hand what it takes to make that happen.”

Ramsey handles national retail accounts, including Kroger, Safeway and Wal-Mart. He is a third-generation family member working at Mann. His father, Dick Ramsey, is co-chairman of the board and vice president of field operations and his grandfather, Bill Ramsey, was a board member.

“Bixby is a shining example of how family members can contribute tremendous value to the organization by working their way up through the ranks,” Lorri Koster, co-chairwoman, said in the release. “He is part of our future leadership.”
