Duda makes PTI a point of emphasis

Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Oviedo, Fla., is implementing in-house technology to meet Produce Traceability Initiative requirements ahead of its competitors and at a lower cost.

Duda innovation allows workers to input PTI tag information into a computer tablet right at the harvest site. PTI tags are then attached to reusable plastic containers of fresh produce.

“This was probably the biggest collaboration in the company since we first rolled out the online computer system in 1980,” David Best, director of software services, said in a news release.



FoodLink traceability utilized

FoodLink is providing produce traceability for all produce shipped in the U.S. by Gourmet Trading Co.

Los Angeles-based Gourmet Trading’s website ( features a link to Los Gatos, Calif.-based FoodLink’s site, where retailers can look up the code on a Produce Traceability Initiative label to find a product’s lot code, global trade item number and product name, according to a FoodLink news release.


RedLine Solutions recognized

RedLine Solutions has received the 2014 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Fresh Produce Traceability Company of the Year.

The Mountain View, Calif.-based company was recognized by Frost & Sullivan, which annually awards companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating superior performance, according to a news release from RedLine.

The release said RedLine Solutions helps customers comply with food safety regulations such as the Produce Traceability Initiative and the Food Safety Modernization Act, and also for systems that support quality and freshness.


PMA event set for June 26

The Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Connections: Food Safety Highlights June 26 in Newport Beach, Calif., will highlight PMA’s safety experts Bob Whitaker and Jim Gorny, who will speak during the breakfast meeting.

They will review most recent food safety research and key findings from the 2014 CPS Food Safety Symposium.


PrimusLabs adopts system for pathogen detection

PrimusLabs has introduced Roka Bioscience’s Atlas pathogen detection system, with features including full sample traceability for fresh produce.

It’s manufactured in Germany by Roka Bioscience, which has adapted its medical technology for food safety uses. It became available March 3.
