The California Table Grape Commission is planning to make the most of a new partnership with Healthy Dining, an organization that aims to facilitate healthier menus in restaurants.
The Cheesecake FactoryThe Cheesecake Factory offers a kale quinoa salad with grapes with sweet red pepper, sunflower seeds, parmesan cheese and a lemon vinaigrette.Adding grapes to the menu is in step with that mission, said Jane Lytle, marketing director of the Fresno-based commission.
“Partnering with Healthy Dining will increase the exposure of Grapes from California among those restaurants actively seeking and ready to implement healthy solutions,” she said.
The trade group is promoting the addition of fresh grapes as a side option on menus as a simple first step, followed by using them as a versatile ingredient in healthier offerings, especially salads.
Recent menu listings include the Cheesecake Factory’s kale quinoa salad with grapes; a kale and brussels sprout salad with grapes at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse; and independent restaurants, such as Chicago’s Gilt Bar with its farro and grape salad or the prosciutto and grape pizza at Urban Kitchen.
For the supermarket deli, California grapes were featured at the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association convention in Denver.
