Los Alamitos, Calif.-based Frieda’s Specialty Produce added Alex Jackson, daughter of president and chief executive office Karen Caplan, to the sales staff as an account manager.
Jackson represents the third generation of the family at the company and was previously the marketing program manager.
The marketing position is now filled by long-time sales account manager Vicki Ewalt.
Giumarra Wenatchee, a division of Los Angeles-based The Giumarra Cos., has a new 1-pound handle bag for kiwi, said Jason Bushong, division manager.
The high-graphic bag provides point-of-sale marketing opportunities with nutrition information, usage tips and more, including a quick-response code for consumers to scan in the store or at home.
“We’re introducing this satchel or handle bag as a grab-and-go convenient option,” Bushong said.
Chris Kragie, import and deciduous sales manager, Western Fresh Marketing, Madera, Calif., said the company will see as much as a 15% increase in California kiwifruit volume this year.
“That’s due to new fields coming into production,” Kragie said.
The company will also handle Italian kiwifruit starting in late October.
“That will be on the East Coast,” Kragie said.
