The National Mango Board has revamped its website, www.mango.org, to make information about mangoes more accessible to a wider variety of visitors, said William Watson, executive director.

“I would venture to say it’s probably the most comprehensive resource for consumers about mangoes on the planet,” he said. “It’s a whole lot easier to use in the past.”

In the website’s original iteration, it was a more “one-dimensional” conduit for information about mangoes, Watson said.

“We felt like we wanted to provide information we had at that time, but since then, we have a ton of research that helps us understand the nutritional benefits of mangoes, all through different kinds of prisms,” Watson said.

“We make resources available to retailers and crop forecasts. It’s much more user-friendly than ever in the past. It’s almost like it knows what you’re looking for before you look for it.”

From April 10 to May 8, the mango board also is holding the nomination process for seven board positions available for the next term, which begins in January 2013.

Detailed information and links to the nominations forms are posted on the board’s website. Positions available are two importers from District I; one domestic producer; one first handler; and two foreign producers.
