Giro Pack Inc., Vidalia, Ga., has introduced the UB-65 bagger, said Josh Logsdon, the company’s western marketing and sales manager.

The machine is capable of producing eight styles of bags and is available in a standard-fill version for hardier items, such as onions and potatoes, and a soft-fill version for items such as apples and peaches.

According to Giro Pack, the machine reduces labor costs by as much as 50%, reduces packing costs by as much as 20% and can increase production speeds by nearly 40%.

The bagger was an award winner in the best new packing/packaging equipment category during the United Fresh convention April 20-23 in Las Vegas.
