Robert Mann Packaging Inc. plans to relocate its corporate offices and distribution facility to Salinas, Calif., which already is home to the company’s production facility.

Harald Mann, senior vice president of sales, said the move is intended to improve customer service for grower-shippers in the Salinas Valley, who account for up to 50% of the company’s sales.

Mann said the company plans to close its current headquarters in Gilroy, Calif., and will look to sell or lease that facility, which includes a 50,000-square-foot distribution center and 5,000 square feet of office space.

The company’s corporate staff and distribution processes will shift to Salinas’ Firestone Business Park, where Mann already has a 250,000-square-foot production facility.

Mann said the company is in the process of building 3,500 square feet of office space in that location and likely will acquire additional space there. He said the company hopes to complete its move by Thanksgiving.

Mann said the majority of the company’s corporate staff will be relocating to Salinas, but it plans to hire additional personnel as well.

The company also handles sales and distribution from its other California offices: Guadalupe, Moss Landing, Oceanside, Oxnard, Santa Maria and Watsonville. It also provides sales and distribution in Brawley, Calif., and Yuma, Ariz., on a seasonal basis.

Mann offers corrugated boxes and bulk bins; flexible and rigid plastic packaging for the produce industry; corrugated trays and plastic clamshells specifically designed for the strawberry industry; and a range of products for the floral industry.
