With the help of government grants, the East Point Potato company is expanding its facility in South Lake, Prince Edward Island.

New bagger and baler equipment, conveying equipment and infrastructure are among the planned improvements, according to a news release from the provincial government.

Company president Boyd Rose said the grants would allow East Point to streamline operations while supporting business growth in rural PEI. The improvements will also help the company meet increasing customer demand.

East Point markets russets and round whites, dark reds and yellows.

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s business development program is providing up to $250,000. Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada and the PEI government are investing up to $45,500.
