(Aug. 13) With a new school year beginning, the Produce for Better Health Foundation is giving kids a way to go to class at the supermarket.

The second annual Fruits & Veggies — More Matters Month should kick off this September with new marketing ideas and resources for retailers.

Two promotional kits are available to the foundation’s licensed retailers online, according to a news release. One, the Take Your Child to the Supermarket event guide, contains materials for children shopping with their parents, while the Supermarket School Tour Kit offers retailers resources for hosting school field trips at their stores.

The Take Your Child to the Supermarket kit contains games and activities that encourage parents to teach their children about the variety of fruits and vegetables available at their local grocery store. Retailers can customize the activities by adding logos and store locations.

The kit also features an event guide with point-of-purchase sign templates, advertising slicks and a consumer news release that can be customized and released in a retailer’s market.

The Supermarket School Tour Kit contains activities and lesson plans that can be taught by store associates. These activities also can be customized by retailers.

The promotional materials are available to licensed retailers at the foundation’s Web site, www.pbhfoundation.org.
