(Nov. 9) The Produce for Better Health Foundation is updating its consumer Web site with new features aimed to educate shoppers and increase consumption.

Wilmington, Del.-based PBH asked retailers to submit columns for the site it launched in March, www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org, with the hope of being able to post one every month, said Bryant Wynes, senior executive of retail marketing.

“We’ve had enough interest that we’re starting off every two weeks, and then in January it’s going to every week,” Wynes said. “It’s worked out real well.”

Wynes said the first “Insider’s Viewpoint” columns were posted in September, and he already has commitments through March from companies such as Albertsons, Jewel, SaveMart, ShopRite, Stop & Shop and Wal-Mart.

PBH also plans to introduce a video center on the Web site early in 2008. The segments, produced by PBH and funded by sponsors, will educate consumers about use, preparation, handling and other issues, Wynes said.

Companies interested in sponsoring a video should contact vice president of development Claudia Wenzing at (302) 235-2329, extension 320.

PBH also plans to include a new product showcase to introduce donors’ products. No sponsorship fee is required.
