(March 18, 4:40 p.m.) Houston-based Country Fresh Inc. expanded its reach into the Northeast U.S. by opening a new facility in Hatfield, Pa.

Scott Silkwood, vice president of operations, said the new facility means faster, fresher deliveries for regional customers.

“We are excited to open the Hatfield plant to accommodate our ongoing growth and expand our presence in the northeast region,” Silkwood said, in a news release. “Regional plants enable us to customize processing to local markets and allow for shorter lead times with more frequent deliveries, which means customers get the freshest products.”

The 55,000-square-foot facility is equipped to handle Country Fresh’s full line of products and serves as a year-round fresh-cut apple processing facility. It employs 50 people.

Country Fresh has six facilities in Florida, Iowa, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas.
