(April 28, 3:07 p.m.) Pink Lady America is partnering with the makers of Laughing Cow spreadable cheeses for a spring cross-promotion in more than 200 retail stores.

“This is the best fit you could find,” said Alan Taylor, marketing manager for Yakima, Wash.-based Pink Lady America LLC. “That’s what you look for in a promotion like this, products that complement each other. It’s not just the flavor. They’re both premium products, and they go to the same target market.”

The target audience for the promotion, Taylor said, is women 25-54 in households with annual incomes of $60,000 or more.

Taylor said 200 to 300 stores will offer samples of Pink Lady apples and cheeses from Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Bel Brands USA during the promotion during the last week in May. He said Jewel stores in the Midwest and Albertson’s and Fred Meyers stores in the Northwest are expected to participate. Brochures for both products are planned to be available to support the promotion.

“Our brochure talks about the health aspects of apples,” Taylor said. “That’s something we’re promoting more and more.”

Taylor said the promotion should coincide with the end of Pink Lady shipments from domestic storage and the beginning of fresh supplies from Chile and New Zealand.
