The bank accounts of two executives at Chilean fruit exporter Aconex have been ordered seized by a Santiago court.

The story was reported March 7 in the Chilean newspaper La Segunda. An industry source said the report was probably accurate.

The source did not think the action would affect fruit shipments to the U.S.

According to the report, the 20th Civil Court of Santiago ordered that the accounts of Aconex president Fernando Barros Freire and his son, general manager Alejandro Barros Aldunate, be seized.

The Barroses are involved in a lawsuit regarding ownership of the company, the report said.

On March 1, Alejandro Barros said there were “personal disagreements among the partners of the company.” At that time, he said the company was still operating.

Aconex exports 5 million cases of table grapes, stone fruit, cherries, citrus, kiwifruit, apples and other fruit annually.

According to the La Segunda story, Aconex has not filed for bankruptcy.
