Seald Sweet International is boosting its West Coast presence by adding three produce industry veterans to its sales department in California.

In August, the Vero Beach, Fla.-based company added two new sales positions and a new procurement specialist position to its Visalia, Calif.-based Seald Sweet West International operation.

Galen Hamel and Gayle Smirnov are sales account executives, with more than three decades have sold produce, including citrus and deciduous commodities, became Seald Sweet’s sales account executives.

With more than 25 years of field and grower management experience, Shann Blue became procurement specialist.

Seald Sweet plans to use the new position to boost its regional volume of citrus, grapes and other fresh produce, according to a news release.

Hamel worked for Sun World International Inc., Bakersfield, Calif., Corrin Produce Sales Inc., Reedley, Calif., and Sunfresh Marketing of California Inc., Delano.

Among other places, Smirnov previously worked for Hemphill & Wilson Enterprises, Selma, Calif.

Blue has worked for Sunny Cove Citrus, Orange Cove, Calif., Bee Sweet Citrus Inc., Fowler, Calif., and was director of grower services for California Citrus Mutual, Exeter.

Mayda Sotomayor, Seald Sweet’s chief executive officer, in the release said the experience of the new appointments should bring new growth opportunities to Seald Sweet.

The additions are expected to strengthen Seald Sweet’s overall position with the Univeg Group, Seald Sweet’s Belgium-based parent company and one of the world’s five largest produce companies, according to the release.

This could be huge for the agriculture economy out here. When I read on this article of Shann Blue appointment to procurement specialist I couldn't help but to think to myself, "man he has a great job." good luck all around.
