(May 16) Bill Weyland has left Seald Sweet LLC after two years with the Vero Beach, Fla.-based company.

Weyland, who had served as director of imports from the company’s New Brunswick, N.J., office, resigned May 1 after Seald Sweet moved its New Jersey sales office to the same location as its new warehouse — on the opposite side of the state — in Swedesboro.

“Unfortunately, Bill decided he couldn’t move, and the commute was too long,” chief executive officer Mayda Sotomayor said. “At the moment, I’m handling imports for the company, as I used to.”

Weyland could not be reached for comment.

Weyland, who has more than 30 years experience in the industry, was general manager of imports for DNE World Fruit Sales, Fort Pierce, Fla., for eight years before joining Seald Sweet in March 2006.

Previously, he worked for Cincinnati-based Chiquita Brands International Inc.; Merex Corp., Yonkers, N.Y.; Grand Union Co., Wayne, N.J.; Wakefern Food Corp., Elizabeth, N.J.; Homa Co., Parsippany, N.J.; Keystone Fruit Marketing Inc., Greencastle, Pa.; and Ibertrade Commercial Corp., New York.
