Vache entered the produce industry with Ryan Instruments, Redmond, Wash., in 1971. Beverly, Mass.-based Sensitech bought Ryan in 2000.
He said he plans to remain in the produce industry but couldn’t talk about any specific plans yet.
Elizabeth Darragh, director of strategic marketing for food for Sensitech, said the company, owned by Carrier Corp., does not comment on personnel issues, so she couldn’t discuss the now-vacant position.
Vache has been involved in many produce industry boards through the years.
He as on the main board of the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association from 1996 to 2000, and then became secretary/treasurer of the group from 2001 to 2005.
Vache also served on several boards and committees of the Produce Marketing Association, International Fresh-cut Produce Association (which merged with UFFVA to form the United Fresh Produce Association in spring 2006), and California Grape and Tree Fruit League.
