Bolthouse expands, adds products
Bolthouse Farms has begun construction on a $20 million expansion project at its Bakersfield, Calif., facility which it expects to be done by mid-November.
The project will expand warehouse space and add load capacity, said Scott LaPorta, chief operations officer/chief financial officer of the Bakersfield-based grower-shipper.
In addition, the expansion will increase dock doors by 40%, frozen storage by 100% and freezer storage by 70%.
“It’s a big investment,” LaPorta said. “We’ve been on an absolute growth tear over the past three to four years.”
Bolthouse also has introduced six juice and juice smoothie beverage flavors, two yogurt-based salad dressings and four Greek yogurt-based salad dressings. All are sold in the refrigerator case.
Tasteful Selections upgrades website
Tasteful Selections recently redesigned its website, www.tastefulselections.com, and added new features in the process.
Among them are expanded product listings and a frequently asked questions page designed to help consumers find information about the firm’s potatoes more easily, said Randy Shell, vice president of marketing.
Tasteful Selections, part of Bancroft, Wis.-based RPE, also announced a partnership with 14-year-old chef Jack Witherspoon form Redondo Beach, Calif.
Already, he has published a cookbook, “Twist it Up;” appeared on television, including the Food Network; and is a three-time leukemia survivor.
Chef Jack has created several recipes exclusively for Tasteful Selections and made step-by-step videos for each.
