DELANO, Calif. — Jakov P. Dulcich & Sons is set for a full launch of its Harvest Hobgoblin grapes promotion for retail, with Halloween-themed elements inspired by candy marketers.

“I’ll be shipping from Sept. 12 to Oct. 20,” said Nick Dulcich, co-owner and sales manager of the Delano-based grower-shipper.

“I noticed the candy people go crazy with this stuff,” he said.

“They bring it out at Labor Day and go all the way through Halloween. The produce department had nothing like that.”

Halloween- and fall-themed bins, colander bags and shelf danglers will highlight the promotion. Harvest Hobgoblin was previewed at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in 2010.

The shelf danglers and colander bags — which let consumers wash and drain grapes in the bag — saw limited distribution last year.

The bin is new for 2011.

“I think it’s a great time to promote grapes and I’m giving retailers the tools to do that with,” Dulcich said.

“It’s a great fall thing.”
