Hiring from the heart of its growing region, the Vidalia Onion Committee added Shelia Adams to its staff as an executive assistant.
Before joining the committee, Adams worked for the Vidalia Onion Factory, Lyons, Ga.
Adams is a Lyons native and said she can’t remember ever not knowing about Vidalia onions. She works with Susan Waters, executive director of the committee, to assist growers and shippers.
The committee’s activities are governed by a federal marketing order for Vidalia onions, which requires growers to pay an assessment that is used in part to promote the annual crop from the 20-county area certified as the official growing region by Georgia statute.
