KINGSBURG, Calif. — The four-generation family owned and operated Kingsburg Orchards is capitalizing on the popularity of its Dinosaur brand stone fruit — known as Dino Eggs — among children by introducing a new Web site aimed at those young consumers.
The Web site, www.Dino101.com, is designed to educate children about the Dinosaur brand fruit, while also encouraging more healthful snack choices, said Michael Elwinger, marketing manager.
The Web site is not strictly educational. It also offers interactive games featuring Dino Dan and other Dinosaur brand characters who strive to defeat Choco Rex and his ilk.
Yet another page of the Web site is dedicated to parents and teachers, Elwinger said. That page provides information on the different flavors and varieties of Dino Eggs and their health benefits, he said. Also featured are news articles about the fruit and recipes and videos showing how the Dino Eggs are grown, harvested and packed.
Educators may use the site to download materials that feature everything from word searches to coloring pages, Elwinger said.
