Jim Ehrlich, executive director, Colorado Potato Administrative Committee, Monte Vista, Colo., said Colorado State University researchers are beginning a three-year project that’s funded by a specialty crop block grant to identify, brand and market potato characteristics.

The characteristics include specific appearances, nutrition and tastes. The research is intended to help increase sales and grower profits by identifying qualities that consumers seek and then branding and marketing them.
