Sun World now represents seven growers in Cabarca and Hermosillo, where it’s working to expand its early-season offerings, Durazo said.

The grower-shipper’s largest grower in Caborca has built a new facility to significantly increase its pre-cooling and storage capacity, category lead Rudy Heras said.

The facility also holds a new packing line, allowing Sun World to extend the availability of its clamshells, Heras said.

Sun World is implementing a new food safety and quality self-auditing system in Mexico that uses data-capturing software and smart tablets in the field.

“This will allow us to conduct harmonized audits across more product and provide real-time visibility to field and food safety conditions,” said marketing manager Natalie Erlendson.

Sun World is also expanding its high-graphic grab-and-go bag line to include grapes of all three colors.

“The graphics highlight the company’s unique and proprietary varieties, a point of differentiation for retailers,” she said.

The bag also includes a nutrition panel and product handling tips, Erlendson said, information consumers surveyed said they wanted to see on their packaging.
