This year, water polo players are sitting down to training tables set with fresh Santa Maria Valley-grown fruit and vegetables supplied by a Guadalupe, Calif., grower-shipper.
Twice a week, Beachside Produce provides fresh produce for the U.S. men’s and women’s Olympic water polo teams’ meals, said Steve Adlesh, director of sales and marketing.
He said it’s exciting for Beachside to sponsor the teams, especially in a year when the Olympic Summer Games will be held.
The company began in February as an official supplier to the teams. The runs for a calendar year, during which the organizations will help promote each other.
By the time the Summer Olympics end, the USA Water Polo logo will have appeared on packaging for Beachside’s romaine hearts, cauliflower, cello-wrapped lettuce, celery, broccoli and strawberries, Adlesh said.
Beachside’s banner will appear at water polo tournaments and exhibition matches, he said. USA Water Polo also posted an announcement about Beachside’s sponsorship on its Facebook page.
