Marketers use cross-promotions to increase berry sales

The partnership ended with a July Fourth promotion this summer, which went well.

“We’ve seen good success. It encourages consumers to think outside the box with the ingredients they use in recipes,” Garnett said.

Fritz Koontz, owner of Santa Cruz Berry Farming Co., Watsonville, Calif., says he hasn’t seen as many cross-promotions recently.

“It makes a lot of sense to do cross-promotions or partner with a product like Cool Whip, but I haven’t seen quite as much interest in that lately,” he said.

Still, Koontz thinks it’s a good idea.

“It’s probably something we should all look into a little more,” he said.
