Michigan Summer Blueberries Inc., Bangor, Mich., is expected to pack about 3 million pounds of fresh blueberries this season, said George Fritz, president and sales manager.

Mild winter weather meant the crop got an early start. Harvest began June 20 in the southern region, about a week to 10 days earlier than normal.

Quality and demand were good in early July, though volumes were light because of cold temperatures and a frost during pollination in early May, Fritz said.
