Oregon Berry prepares for late summer harvest

Brian Malensky, vice president of domestic sales for Oregon Berry Packing Co., Hillsboro, Ore., said he thinks consumers will be impressed with some of the newer sweeter and larger varieties of blueberries that the company expects to harvest in August and September.

He said he thinks the industry hasn’t yet reached its potential for late summer blueberry production in August and September, but some newer varieties will help.

Some newer varieties the company is growing are liberty, aurora, legacy and ochlockonee.
