Sage Fruit Co. LLC, Yakima, Wash., is hoping it will be a big winner with “The Biggest Loser.”
Giraffe Interactive, a Milwaukee-based marketing company, announced earlier this year that it would launch “The Biggest Loser” fresh produce line after reaching a multi-year licensing agreement with NBC Universal Television Consumer Products Group.
Sage was the first supplier to come on board and will market apples, cherries and pears in the brand based on the long-running weight-loss television program.
“Retailers were excited and very receptive to our ‘Biggest Loser’ cherry program,” president of sales and marketing Chuck Sinks said. “It drove extra sales within the category for the retailers that used this opportunity. We are excited to use the momentum and enthusiasm generated with ‘Biggest Loser’ cherries.”
Sinks said retailers can run apple promotions using the “Biggest Loser” and Sage logos. The program offers branded tote bags, 3- and 5-pound poly bags, bins and posters.
“We can provide any graphics that retailer needs to run a ‘Biggest Loser’ themed ad or promotion,” Sinks said.
