Village Farms International, Delta, British Columbia, has introduced a new look for all of its packaging.

Helen Aquino, marketing manager, said the packages feature clear labels with only pertinent information. Instead of seeing a photograph of the product on a label, consumers can see the actual items.

“We offer great, fresh, consistent off-the-vine product,” Aquino said. “Why not highlight that and just let the consumer see the product?”

The company also created trademarked product names that help describe the taste of each variety, Aquino said.

Village Farms expects 30 acres of its new high-technology greenhouse in Monahans, Texas, to be in production by February, said Doug Kling, senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

Initially, only tomatoes will be produced there, but the company plans to add other crops as it expands the facility.

The greenhouse’s final size has not yet been determined.

A very quality company. Using checkweighers to package all tomatoes with the ability to monitor individuals for performance, packing speed, and overages/underages.
