(Jan. 8) Hubert H. Nall Jr. was active in his father’s company until an automobile accident that took his life, said Darrelle Pridgen, a broker and salesman with Forest Park, Ga.-based Hubert H. Nall Co. Inc. for 24 years. Nall Jr. was 80 when he died Dec. 27.

Nall Jr. took over as president of the company when his father, Hubert H. Nall Sr., died in 1979. Nall Jr. had been with the company for 53 years at the time of his death. His son, Hubert H. Nall III has taken over the company following his death. Nall III has been with the company for 10 years. The produce brokerage was founded by Nall Sr. in 1925.

“He was known for his integrity and his honesty,” Pridgen said of Hubert Nall Jr. “This company is known for that, too.”

Nall Jr. served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He also served as finance chairman and chairman of the board of stewards at Haygood Memorial United Methodist Church, Atlanta, and most recently as a deacon at North Avenue Presbyterian Church, Atlanta.

He survived by his wife of 50 years, Harriet Gillam Nall; his son, a daughter, Susan Nall Sheehan, and grandchildren Margaret and Andrew Sheehan. Funeral services were at North Avenue Presbyterian Church Dec. 30.

Pridgen said that Nall III’s step into the president role is the only change the company will have.

“We’re all well established and the company’s not going anywhere,” Pridgen said.
