(May 12, 11:14 a.m.) The South Carolina Department of Agriculture has launched a new Web site designed to be more user-friendly.

The new site, which launched on May 1, contains a variety of information for growers, including market news, local weather and seed purity analysis, as well as consumer information on food recalls, Certified Roadside Markets and recipes, said public information director Becky Walton.

“(The Web site) was in dire need of upgrading,” Walton said. “We wanted to make it more interactive for consumers and producers.”

New features include consumer and producer quick links and market news reports in audio or text.
