A south Florida-based specialty produce grower and shipper plans to expand its warehouse.
Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Southern Specialties Inc. plans to acquire additional warehouse space at its headquarters and distribution facility.
The expansion provides Southern Specialties 36% more storage capacity as well as additional capabilities through hydrocooling and forced air cooling for the company’s fresh-cut processing, according to a news release.
The expansion involves using space in an adjacent building that shares a common wall.
In the release, Robert Colescott, Southern Specialties’ president and chief executive officer, said the expansion works with the company’s commitment to growing its Southern Selects-branded value-added products.
Southern Specialties grows, imports and ships specialty produce including green beans, baby vegetables, asparagus, berries and specialty peppers, specialty tomatoes and specialty lettuce from the U.S., Canada, Central America and South America.
The company markets its products via its Southern Selects, Paradise Tropicals, Fiesta Fresh and Today’s Gourmet brands from distribution facilities in Florida, McAllen, Texas, and Los Angeles.
