Boggiatto Produce adds salesman
This winter on the sales desk will be Marty Howington’s first with Salinas, Calif.-based Boggiatto Produce, which has seasonal operations in the Imperial Valley.
Howington was one of three salesmen who joined Salinas-based foodservice processor-shipper GreenGate Fresh in May when it took over the operations of Metz Fresh LLC.
He started at Boggiatto Produce in August.
Sun World continues pepper bin programs
Red and yellow bell pepper acreage in Coachella Valley is equal to last year’s for Bakersfield, Calif.-based Sun World International. Miniature sweet pepper plantings are up incrementally, said Gene Coughlin, category director.
The minis are offered in 1-pound and 2-pound sizes along with bulk packs.
Sun World’s bin offerings to retailers continue.
“All summer long we were doing bulk bin programs on the red mainly on a 2-foot bin and on a half bin,” Coughlin said.
“It’s going to be an ongoing program for many of our customers,” he said.
