(Feb. 22) The search for the successor to Robert Verloop, vice president for global marketing and licensing at Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Sunkist Growers Inc., ended just down the hall.

As part of a reorganization of the sales and marketing division, Leland Wong, a 10-year member of the Sunkist marketing staff, will handle the marketing duties, while the new director of global licensing is Mark Madden. The promotions were effective Feb. 18.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Leland’s innovative ideas and extensive marketing and brand experience in place to lead Sunkist’s marketing efforts going forward,” said Russ Hanlin, senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Wong began at Sunkist as advertising and public relations manager in 1998. He was promoted to director of advertising and public relations, assuming responsibilities for packaging development and brand enhancement.

As director of marketing, Wong will be responsible for domestic and international advertising, public relations, packaging and sales promotion for both retail and foodservice.

Madden joined Sunkist’s global licensing division in 2004 as director of the Americas. He was promoted to managing director of global licensing in 2007.

“Mark’s enthusiastic, upbeat business approach has already been embraced by our licensees,” Hanlin said. “He will be able to seamlessly to continue building our brand and licensee success around the world.”

Madden was a founding partner in Kinko’s Inc., Ventura, Calif. He left the company in 2001 to become a consultant.

Verloop resigned effective Feb. 15 to become vice president of marketing for Naturipe Farms LLC, Naples, Fla.
