(Dec. 22, 2:05 p.m.) Tops Markets LLC, Williamsville, N.Y., is considering an expansion plan that would open seven to 10 new stores, as well as upgrades at existing stores, as part of an improvement plan.
Scheduled to be completed over the next five years, 60 stores are slated for renovation, beginning with the company’s Olean, N.Y., and Hamburg, N.Y., stores, according to Business First of Buffalo.
Costs will range from minor upgrades to multimillion-dollar overhauls, with the total cost expected to run $150 million.
The new stores will be constructed in upstate and middle New York, with Buffalo and Rochester both being considered, according to the Business First article.
The massive undertaking is a result of increased business — even during the slow economy — as people are eating out less often and preparing more of their own meals at home, according to the article.
