Two companies have posted surety bonds with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to employ individuals previously named in Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act actions.

Tom Maceri & Son Inc., St. Clair Shores, Mich., posted a $40,000 surety bond to employ Joseph Ciolino.

Joseph Ciolino previously was an officer of J & N Produce, Detroit, which the USDA found committed repeated and flagrant violations of Section 2 of the PACA.

Also, Cullens Hometown Market LLC, Early, Texas, posted a $20,000 surety bond to employ Cullen Sliger.

Sliger was an officer of Sligers Produce, Brownwood, Texas, which failed to pay a PACA reparation award.

The USDA will hold the bonds for four years to provide assurance that the companies can pay for produce purchased and conduct business according to PACA rules.
