(Jan. 29) The Washington, D.C.-based United Fresh Produce Association is taking applications for its 14th annual Produce Industry Leadership Program.

The program, underwritten by a grant from DuPont Crop Protection, grooms future industry leaders in four areas: leadership development; business relationships; government and public affairs; and media and public relations.

The 2008 class will make trips to California; Washington, D.C.; Wilmington, Del.; and Florida.

Participants also will meet with industry leaders and get hands-on training in a specially designed curriculum at the University of California-Davis.

Ashley Rawl, director of sales and marketing for Walter P. Rawl & Sons Inc., Pelion, S.C., and a program graduate, is chairing the committee that will choose the 2008 class, according to a United Fresh news release.

Twelve people will be chosen for this year’s class. To apply or for more information, visit ww.unitedfresh.org/programs. Applications must be completed by March 17.
