Janet Hammond (from left) and Marti Oppenheimer, the great-great grandnieces of Vancouver, British Columbia's second mayor, David Oppenheimer, join Oppenheimer chairman, president and CEO John Anderson and Vancouver Park Board Chair Korina Houghton at the statue of Mayor Oppenheimer at the entrance to Stanley Park. Anderson holds the official "David Oppenheimer Day" proclamation. Mayor Oppenheimer opened Stanley Park on Sept. 17, 1888. Thirty years earlier, with his three brothers, he founded the company which would become The Oppenheimer Group.
