(June 2, 9:45 a.m.) Steve Tursi will leave Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., to join Seald Sweet LLC, Vero Beach, Fla.

Tursi, produce merchandising manager at Wal-Mart and a 22-year industry veteran, will become Seald Sweet’s vice president of new business development July 1, said Kim Flores, Seald Sweet marketing manager.

Tursi will be based in the company’s Swedesboro, N.J., office.

As a produce merchandising manager at Wal-Mart, Tursi oversees 11 buyers in the vegetable and value-added categories. Before joining Wal-Mart, Tursi was a buyer for Salt Lake City-based American Stores.

Tursi is a member of the 2007-08 Produce Marketing Association board of directors and a 2000 graduate of United Fresh Produce Association’s Produce Industry Leadership Program.

Tursi also is a past recipient of Wal-Mart’s Produce Buyer of the Year award, and he is an original member of the Southeast Produce Council.
